Police in Turkey have detained 19 people suspected of financing the Islamic State (IS) terror group, local media reported.
Following the operations that started across 12 provinces on Friday, five more suspects are still on the run, according to local media published by the Xinhua news agency.
After social media monitoring revealed an IS funding plan worth more than 8 million Turkish liras ($460,000) with over 900 individual contributors, the Istanbul Attorney General’s office launched an investigation.
Suspects going in and out of Hatay, Turkey’s southernmost border region, moved the funds to Syria.
Since 2015, the Islamic State has been accused of a string of deadly attacks in Turkey.
