The South Korean government on Tuesday finalised preparations for the upcoming historic summit between President Moon Jae-in and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.

South Korean authorities held a complete rehearsal of the meeting at the joint security area on the border, the venue for the summit to be held on Friday, the presidential office said in a statement.

The Blue House also released the dinner menu to be served during the meeting, which includes a symbolic collection of dishes from both countries.

The leaders will eat Baked John Dory — a dish made from flat sea fish — a tribute to the port city of Busan where Moon grew up; along with the Swiss rosti, a potato dish from Switzerland, where Kim is said to have lived as a student.

Another dish on the menu will be Pyongyang-style cold noodles, prepared by a famous North Korean chef who will come from Pyongyang to cook the meal.

A South Korean official provided details finalised by North and South Korea for the summit, which run into minutiae such as the exact time of the first handshake between the two leaders.

Kim’s line of passage to the Peace House, where he will reportedly arrive after crossing the border on foot, has also been agreed upon by the two sides.

The official added that almost all preparations were complete for the summit and it might not be necessary to hold a final high-level dialogue, which had been announced earlier.
