Captain Amarinder said while he hailed their contribution to Canada’s progress, he realised that the roots of the Punjabi and Sikh NRI community settled there continued to be deeply embedded in Punjab and they were welcome to come back to their native land whenever they wanted to. “They will be welcomed here with open arms,” he said, adding that his government would ensure that the NRIs are facilitated in setting up business or otherwise getting re-integrated into Punjab in case they choose to return.
He lauded all Punjabis settled abroad for lending a sense of pride to the state with their industrious efforts to make a mark for themselves wherever they have chosen to live, including Canada.
