Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has invited First Lady Melania Trump to “come over to the light” to his show Saturday Night Live after the infamous jacket row that stirred a controversy.
Baldwin, who was widely praised for imitating United States President Donald Trump, took to his Twitter handle to address the recent controversy surrounding Melania during her visit to the shelter for children separated from their parents and guardians who illegally migrated to the country through US-Mexico border.

Melania was spotted wearing a green Zara jacket that had “I Really Don’t Care! Do You?” written on its back, which was seen my many as “insensitive”.

Baldwin alluded to the First Lady’s recent statement on separation of children from their parents. The statement issued on her behalf by her spokesperson Stephanie Grisham had said Melania “hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform”.
In a follow-up tweet, Baldwin posted another tweet with a picture with Melania and said: “We have a chair waiting for you in the @nbcsnl make-up room.”

People also joined Baldwin as Melania received backlash from people for the contradiction between her statement and what was written on the back of her jacket.
In her defence, Donald Trump had said Melania learnt about “fake news media” and her jacket was on purpose for those people, while her spokesperson clarified that her jacket didn’t mean anything.
