Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte landed himself in controversy because of his controversial remark against women. Duterte, reportedly, told his soldiers to shoot women rebels in their genitals.
“Tell the soldiers. ‘There’s a new order coming from mayor. We won’t kill you. We will just shoot your vaginas so that’… If there are no vaginas, it would be useless,” The Washington Post quoted him as saying.
On February 7, the President was addressing a group of former communist rebels at his official residence, the Heroes Hall in the Malacañang Palace when he made the comments.

According to the media reports, his remarks were also included in the official transcript of his speech which was released by his communications office. The word “vagina” was replaced with a dash in the official transcript.
Several media reports suggest that Duterte has found himself in controversies many times for his remarks about women.
In the year 2016, Duterte joked about the rape and murder of an Australian missionary in 1989. According the Daily Mail, he had said, “I was angry because she was raped, that’s one thing. But she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first.”
When he is questioned about his denigrating remarks against women, he often rubs it off saying that he only meant to make a joke.
