Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday in a speech commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s rule that no force could sway China’s development.
Xi said in Mandarin, “There is no force that can shake the foundation of this great nation”.
On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong, or Chairman Mao, announced the formation of the PRC, after communist forces won a bloody civil war.
“There is no force that can shake the foundation of this great nation,” he said amid applause from thousands of people seated in the stands set up for the anniversary celebrations.
“No force can stop the Chinese people and the Chinese nation forging ahead”, Xi added.
Xi said that the Chinese people have made great achievements over the past seven decades that have amazed the world on account of being united.
“Long live the great Communist Party of China. And long live the great Chinese People!” Xi concluded his speech, which lasted for less than 10 minutes.
Xi then reviewed the military, in which about 15,000 personnel were said to be participating. The review was also set to showcase 160 aircraft and 580 pieces of military equipment, including drones and missiles.
