Pompeo had described Iran as the largest state sponsor of terror while pointing out that the Indian people have suffered from the menace across the globe.
Iran on Thursday categorically rejected as ‘baseless’ the allegation of being a sponsor of terrorism made against the Islamic nation by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a joint press conference with external affairs minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday.
These allegations are nothing but continuation of attempts to level unfounded accusations against Iran by the US Administration, especially Secretary Pompeo, to push for more hostilities, instability and confrontation in the region,” the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi said in a statement.

Pompeo had described Iran as the largest state sponsor of terror while pointing out that the Indian people have suffered from the menace across the globe. The embassy said: “the miscalculations and wrong understanding of the US administration about other nations and many international and regional issues have aggravated the situation between the US and the rest of world. This is very clear and undeniable.” It said the US was openly sowing seeds of hostility against the ‘peaceful’ people of Iran through the maximum economic pressure, particularly ‘unfair sanctions’ against the country.
