Facebook users around the world took to twitter on Monday night to report that the social network was inaccessible. Messages of “Facebook down” started flooding the microblogging site past Monday midnight (India time) and many users said they were not able to access WhatsApp and Instagram either.
According to Down Detector, the outages appear to have started around 2.30 am India time, and users complained of issues across the networking platforms of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

While issues were mostly reported from North America and Europe, users across the world faced the problems.

The outage lasted around 90 minutes.
Some users said they had read-only access while others were unable to even log in.
A few users posted on Twitter the error message showed by Facebook on the site. It said: “Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.”

“Earlier today, a networking issue caused some people to have trouble accessing or posting to various Facebook services,” an AFP report quoted a Facebook spokesman as saying. “We quickly investigated and started restoring access, and we have nearly fixed the issue for everyone. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
