Gilgit-Baltistan confirms first polio case of 2025 as national tally hits 11
Health authorities have confirmed the first case of wild poliovirus in Gilgit-Baltistan this year, raising Pakistan's nationwide tally to 11 in 2025.
In Afghanistan’s eastern Parwan province, four militants, allegedly affiliated with the Taliban outfit, have been arrested on charge of destroying a power pylon, a statement said on Saturday.
A search operation was launched by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) Special Forces on Friday, capturing a four-member group linked with the Taliban who have blown up a power pylon in Ahangaran area of the Salang district, NDS, the country’s primary intelligence agency, said the statement.

On Tuesday night several provinces and the national capital of Kabul faced scrapping of power supply as the four militants exploded the power pylon transferring imported electricity.

The power connection was re-established on late Thursday after local workers reconstructed the tower in the mountainous district.
Taliban militants denied any involvement of their fighters in the incident.
