Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) entrusted the task of leading the party to its former secretary-general Shigeru Ishiba by electing him as its president on 27 September.
An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck parts of southern Philippines on Saturday. No damage was reported but there could be numerous aftershocks, state seismologists said.
The moderately quake which occurred at around 8.30 a.m. was traced 22 km southeast of Malapatan township at a depth of 30 km, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The intensity of the quake in Digos was five.
