CES 2023 is just a week away, but many launches and unveiling details are already out. In the long list of events, the LG Innotek, a subsidiary of LG Display Co, has added its name. The company will unveil a brand-new “optical telephoto zoom camera module,” LG Innotek has officially published this information.
It’s been a while since LG has stopped producing its own phones, but LG Innotek is still a significant producer of mobile camera modules. An optical zoom sensor that can switch between two points appears to be the company’s most recent endeavour.
The company explained in a blog post that the module is a micro-component designed for smartphones by merging the telescopic camera features that are generally used on professional cameras like digital single lens reflex (DSLR) and mirrorless cameras.

“By applying LG Innotech’s optical telephoto zoom camera module to the smartphone, optical zoom filming is possible in the high-magnification of 4-9 times section,” the company said.
LG Innotek also mentioned that it is working closely with Qualcomm Technologies “to optimise software for optical continuous zoom that will be applied to the new premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform”.
It will be fixed to the smartphone’s back so that photos and videos may be taken without lowering image quality, even when zoomed in from a far distance.
While optical zoom cameras move the lens directly to zoom the subject, maintaining great image quality, digital zoom enlarges the size of the image at the expense of substantial quality reduction.
A new gaming monitor with a record-breaking 240Hz refresh rate will also be on display at CES in January, in addition to the Optical Telephoto Zoom Camera Module, LG recently announced.
