Apple fixes iPhone 8 crackling earpiece noise issue with iOS update

Not a long after the launch of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus last month, users began complaining about an issue of “crackling” or “static” sound through earpiece during calls. The weird noise issue reportedly popped on both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on different carriers.

Apple acknowledged the issue last week saying it occurred for a “small number” of users and it will be fixed soon.

Now almost a couple of weeks after the rollout of iOS 11, Apple has released a second update to address the bugs including crackling noise issue for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices.

The release of iOS 11.0.2 OTA update on Tuesday notes the fix for should ‘crackling sounds’ on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus as well as addresses an issue that could cause some photos to become hidden. It also fixes an email bug where attachments in S/MIME encrypted emails would not open.

It’s still not clear what exactly triggered ‘crackling sounds’ on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, but with an update fixing the issue suggests it was merely a software problem.
