Apple unveiled three new iPhones as it introduced the 2018 line-up of smartphones at its annual Apple Event in California on September 12. The premium models are iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

The phones are updates to last year’s iPhone X, but all three models support dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM), bringing the feature to iPhones for the first time.

The screen sizes have been stretched though the overall handset size are almost same as the previous models.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max come with upgraded dual 12MP camera and 2x optical zoom, and would be available in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants in space grey, silver and a new gold finish.

The models will be available in India from September 28 at a starting price of Rs 99,900 and Rs 1,09,900, respectively, through Apple authorised resellers.

The iPhone XR is the cheapest of the lot with a starting price of Rs 76,900. This model, with a 6.1-inch display, will be available in the US from October.

Home buttons have been replaced with screen swipes, taps and facial recognition capabilities.

All three models come with a 7MP TrueDepth front camera, A12 Bionic chip with next-generation Neural Engine, besides face ID and wireless charging.

“We are going to take iPhone X to the next level,” chief executive Tim Cook said at the event.

He said Apple was nearing the two-billion mark for devices with its mobile operating system known as iOS.

“We are about to hit a major milestone. We are about to ship our two billionth iOS device,” he said.

Analysts have predicted a very good year overall for Apple.
