A compelling case for pragmatism

When Chinese President Xi Jinping landed in Macau, the world’s gambling capital, the air was thick with anticipation. Macau, often dubbed the “Las Vegas of the East,” is much more than a beacon of wealth and opulence.

Putin and post-communist age

In 1999, just before becoming president, Putin wrote in a Russian newspaper: “For the first time in the past 200-300 years, Russia faces the real danger that it could be relegated to the second, or even the third tier of global powers.”

Dialogue dynamics

India needs to be cognizant of two points the real Chinese intentions and the approach it will adopt to achieve its intended goal. We must not allow the comity of nations to get fooled by the overt display of eagerness to settle the current conflict through dialogue.
