The just-concluded Winter Session of Parliament was unproductive and the least effective in over a year. It ran from November 25 to December 20 and saw frequent disruptions, including protests and arguments.
Himachal Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die concluding the Winter Session at Tapovan (Dharamshala) on Saturday.
Before the two Houses were adjourned, the two important bills relating to 'One Nation, One Election' were referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, attending the winter session of parliament, has written on his X-handle: “The BJP’s brazen attempt to introduce a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BILL today, WHILE THE CONSTITUTION DEBATE IS STILL UNDERWAY in Parliament, is nothing short of an unashamed attack on democracy.”
The Winter Session of the Parliament is set to commence from November 25 and will go on till December 20, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced here on Tuesday.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has asserted that the mass suspension of the Opposition MPs from both Houses of Parliament during the Winter Session seems to be "predetermined and premeditated by" the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Briefing newspersons on the Winter Session of Parliament which concluded on Thursday night, he said, "They themselves came and said to suspend them. Congress Party has such a low-level strategy."
Speaking at a ‘Save Democracy’ protest at Jantar Mantar, the Congress leader said, “They are those who call themselves patriots… ‘Hawa nikal gayi unki…’ (Their bravado had gone into the thin air…) We saw it all.”
