The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said on Friday that it has secured $118 million to provide life-saving assistance to over 1 million displaced people in Burundi, Djibouti, Kenya, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
A statement released by WFP said the agency is distributing ready-to-eat food rations, bread, hot meals, and food parcels to families in shelters nationwide.
The app will provide real-time information, insights, and analytics to contribute to the livelihood of the fisherfolks.
Satellite imagery has shown floodplains that included an "inland ocean" 125 km by 25 km, the size of Luxembourg, according to WFP.
