West Bengal Police, probing the fake passport racket in the state, claimed to have got specific information about its kingpin Samaresh Biswa's network of Bangladeshi agents.
Sources said that acting on a specific tip-off, the officers of STF zeroed in on the house of the alleged illegal arms dealer and nabbed Mohammed Arif (40).
The elections in the CCB, which is located in the residential area of Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state Legislative Assembly, are scheduled on 15 December. Around 430 candidates will contest in 108 seats of the CCB.
The high court has allowed the agency to file it's petition and listed the matter for hearing today.
According to the police notice, both the officers along with their injured colleague will come as witnesses for the purpose of investigation.
Questioning the police's claim that the BJP worker, Ulen Roy, did not die from their bullets, the hindutva outfit has asked, "If not police then who?"
Saying that they "do not use shotguns, police alleged that BJP had brought "armed persons" in its protest who fired at the deceased from close range.

At a public meeting on November 4 last year, Dilip Ghosh had lashed out at West Bengal Police and alleged the entire department was rotten by corruption.
"Being the chief minister of West Bengal, had Mamata Banerjee instructed the Police Commissioner to arrest Bimal Gurung from Salt Lake without compromising on anything, her political efficacy, administrative acumen and caliber would have gone far more brighter, and ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections, her position would have been more secured," former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pankaj Datta said.
