Residents of Delhi woke up to a dense layer of fog on Saturday, reducing visibility to zero for the first time in 15 days, while the air quality index (AQI) remained in the 'very poor' category.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the national capital stood at 6 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung while Palam registered 7.6 deg C.
A thick layer of fog blanketed Delhi on Sunday morning causing disruption in the flight and train services in the national capital. The city also witnessed cold waves and temperature dip in the morning.
The national capital experienced cold day conditions for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday with the minimum temperature recorded at 7.6 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department.
With sudden change in the weather towards the evening, amid the scorching heat, light rain came in as a welcome surprise for the residents brining a little respite from the extreme heat.

Most parts of India witness hot to very hot conditions in the pre-monsoon months of March, April, May and June, with some coastal areas having a combination of heat and humidity.
Several parts in the city also witnessed rain with the strong winds, the regional meteorological centre said in its bulletin.
According to the weather agency, temperature recorded a sudden fall during this period over Northwest India including Delhi.
