Addressing a press conference here, the Delhi Cabinet Minister claimed that flow meter data indicates that Haryana is supplying significantly less water to the national capital than stated.
The L-G assured them that he would engage with the Haryana government to address the issue promptly.
According to the Meteorological Department, the state has received only 59 milliliters of water in the last season, which is 69 percent less than usual.
"They are so daunted by the extreme water scarcity that they do not want to stay in the village and return to their maternal homes," it added.
Ahead of the launch of ‘Amrit Sarovar Mission’ on 1 May in the state, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said as the whole world is facing water crisis, the tradition of water conservation needs to be maintained.
"The state government had started discrimination with the Left-run elected board since the beginning. Despite several efforts, we did not get any desired results. We had sent the proposal to the state urban development and municipal affairs department to include the project under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, but that did not happen due to political reasons,"
The SMC supplies drinking water to more than 40,000 households in all 47 wards and there are around 1370 water taps under it
