In its reply to Ramesh’s letter, the poll panel categorically said it has no new assertions or reasonable and legitimate doubts which require further clarifications.
The state government and the state election commission (SEC) has policy-wise decided to use VVPAT but it depends whether the poll body will have an adequate supply of machines before the election.
The commission has said that these EVMs won`t be used for voting on Tuesday.

After weeks of intense, bitter and at times vicious campaigning the moment of truth is at hand.
The Commission said the VVPAT verification will be done after the counting of votes and not before.
Earlier on Tuesday, 22 Opposition parties demanded that VVPAT slips at randomly selected five polling booths be counted first, and if any discrepancy occurs, then VVPAT slips be tallied for the entire assembly segments.
Elections to the lone Lok Sabha seat and by-poll to Aizawl West-I Assembly seat were held simultaneously in the first phase of polling on April 11.
