Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on Thursday rejected the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, calling it "an act of impropriety" to "mar the reputation of the chairman".
In the upper house of Parliament, Leader of the House and Health Minister J P Nadda, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Opposition for a motion against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar even as the Opposition members agitated on the Adani issue.
Dhankhar stressed that deviation from rules is virtually sacrilege of this temple (of democracy) and that the Chair can be persuaded historically only by exhibiting the highest standard of conformance to the rules.
