West Bengal recorded the highest turnout at 69.89 per cent, followed by Jharkhand at 69.03 per cent and Himachal Pradesh at 67.39 per cent.
Varanasi Lok Sabha seat registered 56.35 per cent polling.
As per the ECI, Jharkhand is leading the voter turnout charts at 60.14 per cent till 3 pm.
With 31.9 per cent voting, Himachal Pradesh recorded the highest voter turnout in the first four hours.
The newly included areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts, which were earlier in the Jammu Lok Sabha constituency, witnessed brisk polling.
Delhi recorded the lowest turnout of voters at 34.37 per cent while Uttar Pradesh’s polling percentage was 37.23 per cent till 1 PM.
Adopting a “hands off” approach in the midst of the ongoing general election, the court noted that polling for the five phases is already over, and the sixth one will go to polls on Saturday.

The contest was triangular between Tashi Gyalson (BJP), Tsering Namgyal (Congress) and Haji Haneefa Jaan (independent candidate from Kargil).
