An official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant had lodged a complaint on the anti-corruption portal on 23 June alleging the patwari took a bribe of Rs 4,000 in lieu of issuing a copy of Jamabandi of a land, which was registered in his father's name.

After verifying a complaint that she allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a local resident in a case registered in Civil Line Police Station Kaithal, a Haryana State Vigilance Bureau team conducted a raid. But sensing the raid, the accused head constable managed to flee the spot.
"The complainant brought this matter to the notice of the vigilance bureau, after which a trap was laid and the patwari was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 2,4000," said a bureau spokesman.
The complaint informed that he had already paid Rs 50,000 as a bribe to the accused but he was further threatening and demanding a bribe Rs One lakh more from him.
He said the Bureau has also arrested 10 government officials, including a gazetted officer while accepting bribes ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 1.40 lakh during the same period.
VB’s chief director BK Uppal said the bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period.
