The shelters managed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in central and southern Gaza are severely overcrowded with a record-high number of displaced persons.
The UN Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) said that since the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) created periodic evacuation "corridors" earlier this month, at least 40,000 people have walked from northern Gaza to the besieged enclave's southern regions.
The UN has condemned the incident, saying the fuel and medical equipment were kept strictly for humanitarian purposes.
