UN condemns strikes on civilians in Sudan

The United Nations has condemned recent strikes on civilians in Sudan, which resulted in a large number of deaths. The attacks occurred amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Army and the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

WFP says three personnel killed in Sudan

The World Food Programme (WFP) on Friday announced that three of its staff members were killed in an aerial bombardment in Sudan, while the Sudanese government pledged to investigate the incident.

Intervention Avoidable

There are clearly no substantial upsides to the logic of Indian military intervention in Afghanistan, except perhaps diplomatic vanity. Besides Afghanistan's known history as the Graveyard of Empires, India's own swamped experience of Sri Lanka should make it desist from entertaining any thoughts of boots on ground in the quagmire of Afghanistan.

Political Asylum

It is a dilemma to balance perceptions of national security with the justification for humanitarianism. Retrospective ethical judgements are arrived at more easily. The same yardstick will apply to India‘s stand on refugees fleeing from the brutal Myanmar army earlier and today, whose return to their homeland looks far from certain.
