The Union Budget 2022-23 was presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday.
"We are in the thick of the Omicron wave, and our vaccine campaign's rapidity has tremendously aided us," Sitharaman in her address.
Even as PM Modi claimed overwhelming people’s ‘positive’ response to the Budget, opposition parties including Congress and TMC variously termed it a ‘zero sum’.
The Budget Estimates for the next fiscal show a total expenditure of Rs 39.45 lakh crore, while the total receipts other than borrowings, are estimated at Rs 22.84 lakh crore.
"The session is scheduled to conclude on April 8 wherein the first part of the session will extend up to February 11," said the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Sunday.
Further, the duty on inputs of mechanics has been increased, which makes it impossible for the local manufacturing of mechanics to compete.
