As per the mid-2021 data available with UNHCR, there are 84 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. It includes 48 million internally displaced people. A total of 26.6 million are refugees and 4.4 million are asylum-seekers.

UNHCR warns of humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan

"A failure to reach a peace agreement in Afghanistan and stem the current violence will lead to further displacement within the country, as well as to neighbouring countries and beyond," UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said
