Meanwhile, Sunak's decision to appoint the quite shrill Suella Braverman, whose mother is a Tamil from Mauritius and her father a Goan, as Home Secretary, continues to haunt him.

Sunak's change in fate was triggered by the resignation of Truss after her high-profile sacking and resignation in her cabinet, following a heavily criticised mini-budget that left the UK pound tumbling.
Truss had succeeded Boris Johnson in early September, after emerging triumphant in the Conservative Party leadership contest over former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak.
Asked if she was now prime minister in name only, Truss said she had appointed Hunt because she knew she had to change direction, reported Australian daily, The Islander.
A total of 58 ministers quit the government following an ethics scandal which ultimately forced the UK premier to resign.
Last week, Johnson promised an "independent" inquiry into the pandemic, but no details have been given of its scope or timing.
Johnson's remarks come as councils in England have been given "lightning" lockdown powers.
