Rajan Salvi was defeated in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections and lost to Eknath Shinde-led MLA Kiran Samant, from Rajapur assembly constituency in the coastal Konkan region.
M S Bhuvanachandran, founder of Shiv Sena’s Kerala unit, has left the party following disenchantment with the style of working of Uddhav Thackeray.
Shiv Sena (UBT) has unilaterally announced that the party will go solo in the upcoming nagar panchayat, nagar parishad, zilla parishad and municipal corporation elections. Party MP Sanjay Raut announced this here on Saturday.
Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut is well known for criticising the BJP and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regularly, but he ended up praising Fadnavis on Friday in Mumbai, surprising several political observers.
Demanding justice for Thackeray, Miss Banerjee said, “What is happening in Maharashtra is shocking. I doubt if any democracy works in India."
A senior functionary of the Sena said, "The magnitude of the rebellion is such that there are grim chances of survival, but we are engaging them and there are regular talks."
"If any MLA wants me to not continue as the CM, I am ready to take all my belongings from Varsha Bungalow (official residence of the CM) to Matoshri," Thackeray said.
