A bench, headed by Chief Justice U.U. Lalit noted that B.A. Umesh was kept in solitary confinement at Belagavi jail for a period of 10 years in violation of law.
The plea said that India has been ranked at the 80th position among 180 countries and territories in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI)

Dave told, "You have been a citizens' judge. And, I speak on behalf of citizens of this country...you upheld the rights; you upheld the Constitution...your lordship excelled our expectations...you did what really is expected to be done by this institution.
Alleging that there was arbitrary allocation of funds, the plea also sought directions for fixing accountability of the money allocated for athletics.
