Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday paid heartfelt tributes to India's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, on his 59th death anniversary, remembering his remarkable contributions to the nation.
The State Legislature Secretary issued a notice in this regard on Saturday. Dr Singh was largely instrumental in the formation of Telangana in 2014.
Condoling the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, charge d’affaires of the Palestine Embassy in New Delhi, Dr Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer said on Friday that India has lost a wise politician and economist.
The Isak Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland(NSCN-IM) on Friday said that with the demise of Dr Manmohan Singh, Nagas have lost a great leader who stood for a political solution to the Nagalim issue.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said Himachal Pradesh is known as Veer Bhoomi. “Coming here, it becomes clear that the brave soldiers of Himachal have made the supreme sacrifice of their lives while showing their valor and courage to protect the boundaries of the country,” he added.
The Prime Minister said Swami Vivekananda had motivated youth to work towards the building of a nation. He exhorted people to work towards fulfillment of the Swami Ji’s dreams for the country.
The country's senior-most military officer, General Rawat, was killed along with his wife and 11others in an Indian Air Force helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. He will be cremated with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment at 4 pm today .
