President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the recommendation of the inter-agency Covid-19 task force to lift the current travel restrictions on India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, reports Xinhua news agency.
President Rodrigo Duterte said that the travel restrictions were imposed to prevent the spread of highly infectious Delta COVID-19 variant.
Meanwhile, those passengers arriving in Israel from these countries must go into quarantine, including those vaccinated and recovered from the virus.
The researchers used epidemiological data, migration data, and information on travel bans from all these countries to show that although exceptionally long bans may work to reduce total cases, moderate durations are associated with significant increases in disease spread.
The total number of cases across the globe currently stands at 109,965. 80,735 of these cases are in Mainland China, 7,375 are in Italy and 7,313 are in South Korea.
