The IOC last year stripped the IBA of its status as boxing’s governing body over governance issues, and took charge of the Paris 2024 boxing competition.
Bach reiterated that the upcoming Olympics are not a threat to the people of Japan despite a positive case emerging from the Athletes Village.
Bach’s visit on Tuesday coincided with the official opening of the Olympic Village on Tokyo Bay.
“Our common target is safe and secure games for everybody; for the athletes, for all the delegations, and most importantly also for the Chinese people -- Japanese people,” Bach said, catching his mistake quickly.
Batra and IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta have been divided in their opinion on the resumption of training of athletes in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The IOC chief Thomas Bach also called for patience going into the Tokyo Olympics that has been postponed to July 23 next year.
