Tej Bahadur Yadav was sacked from BSF in 2017 after he uploaded a video on social media complaining about the food served to the troops.
Tej Bahadur had approached the Supreme Court on Monday, May 1 to contest the rejection of his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency. He is being represented by advocate Prashant Bhushan.
Tej Bahadur had, in March, announced that he will take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Varanasi seat as an Independent candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier in the day, Yadav alleged that the BJP was creating 'roadblocks' in his nomination process to 'prevent' him from contesting elections against PM Modi from Varanasi.
The SP has fielded Yadav from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi after dropping Shalini Yadav, who had earlier filed her nomination from the seat.
Yadav added that his purpose is to get rid of corruption in the armed forces and when he tried to expose it he was dismissed hence he is contesting the election as an Independent candidate against the PM.
