Sixty-eight bodies have so far been recovered after the February 7 disaster possibly triggered by an avalanche.
According to the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority the search and rescue team has cleared debris from 170 Mts patch inside the tunnel.
Three bodies were recovered from the Tapovan tunnel and one from Maithana.
The “head race” tunnel at the Tapovan hydel project site where 30-35 workers have been trapped since 7 February, remains the focal point of rescue operations.
In a move to ease progress inside the Tapovan tunnel, ITBP and other agencies involved in the challenging operation have started removing loose ends of pipes and wires.
The rescue team has so far recovered 20 bodies and was successful in evacuating 12 persons trapped in a tunnel.
A big rescue team- involving ITBP, Army, SSB, State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response Force- are working day and night to find trapped workers.
