SC stays execution of Sambhal civic body’s notice on well near mosque’s entrance

Issuing notice to the state government on an application by the Committee of Management, Shahi Jama Masjid, which has sought direction to the Sambhal District Magistrate (DM) to ensure that status quo is maintained in respect to a well situated near the stairs/entrance of the mosque, a bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar sought status report from the state government within two weeks.

SC to hear petitions challenging law on selection of CEC and ECs

SC remands back to Andhra HC to hear state govt plea over barring rallies on roads

The State of Andhra Pradesh has moved the Supreme Court against the interim order dated January 12, 2023, by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, at Amaravati. By the Impugned order, the High Court has stayed the operation of the government order dated January 2, 2023, finding, prima facie, that the same is contrary to the procedure prescribed under Section 30 of the Police Act.
