On a very successful day for India in badminton which saw the country win four medals on Monday, Sukant Kadam's hopes of winning a medal in his Paralympics debut ended in a setback as he lost 0-2 to Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan in the Men's Singles SL4 bronze medal match.
Padma Shri Awardee Pramod Bhagat and World No 2 in the SL4 category Sukant Kadam are all set to kickstart their 2023 schedule with wins at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2023 Level 2 which is set to begin from February 20 in Vitoria, Spain.
In the finals, Sukant continued to rule from the beginning. He defeated Chee Hiong Ang by scores of 21-14 and 21-15 in two straight sets.
It is to be noted that while PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth won a gold and bronze respectively at the World Championships held in Basel, Switzerland, India also bagged in as many as 12 more medals in the Para-Badminton World Championship held in the same city.
