Market extends losing streak for third consecutive session

Stock Market erased some of the previous session gains to end lower. Selling was seen in the IT, metal, oil & gas and FMCG names, while buying in realty, PSU bank, media restricted further fall.
The surge in the Indian stock market on Friday helped the Indian benchmark indices end the week on a positive note.
At close, the Sensex was up 16 points or 0.02% at 81,526, and the Nifty was up 32 points or 0.1% at 24,642.
Sensex opened higher at 73,711.31, and closed 253.31 points, or 0.34%, at 73,917.03. Nifty 50 opened higher at 22,415.25, and closed up 62.25 points, or 0.28%, at 22,466.10.
Among the sectors, barring Nifty PSU Bank, all sectoral indices ended higher.
Sensex closed up by 328.48 points or 0.45 per cent at 73104.61, while the Nifty surged by 118.55 points or 0.51 per cent to reach 22,217.85.
Nifty 50 opened 27 points lower at 22,027.95 compared to its previous close of 22,055.20 and extended losses to as much as 234 points, or over 1%, reaching the intraday low of 21,821.05.
