Market extends losing streak for third consecutive session

Stock Market erased some of the previous session gains to end lower. Selling was seen in the IT, metal, oil & gas and FMCG names, while buying in realty, PSU bank, media restricted further fall.
The surge in the Indian stock market on Friday helped the Indian benchmark indices end the week on a positive note.
At close, the Sensex was up 16 points or 0.02% at 81,526, and the Nifty was up 32 points or 0.1% at 24,642.
This was the fifth day of decline for the benchmarks when Nifty50 was down nearly 1 per cent or 216 points at 22,488 while Sensex dropped 0.8 per cent or 617 points to 73,885.
Sensex opened at 75,585.40, and finally closed with a loss of 220 points, or 0.29 per cent, at 75,170.45.
FPIs have offloaded Indian equities worth more than Rs 22,000 crore this month so far.
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) witnessed a net outflow of Rs 22,047 crore from equities this month, till May 24.
Sensex opened lower at 75,335.45, and ended at 75,410.39, down 7.65 points, or 0.01 per cent.
