The president of the citizens forum Sailen Parbat said that the state administration and the State Election Commission have completely failed to provide safety and security to the common people during the panchayat election.
The State Election Commission called an all-party meeting on June 13 to discuss the Panchayat elections in West Bengal.
The West Bengal panchayat elections will be held in a single phase on July 8. The counting of votes will be done on July 11.
Earlier in the day, independent candidate Sultan Ansari won from the Abhiman Das ward in Ayodhya by 442 votes.
Rural development and Panchayati Raj minister, Anirudh Singh said that the Congress government in the state is women, youth and employee-friendly government.

The CPI-M leader mentioned that Left is submitting the complaints with evidence to the municipal returning officer since TMC goons didn’t allow anyone to lodge complaints with the presiding officer. “We have demanded repolling in wards- 101, 102, 109 and 110 and 113 (part). Also, wards 2, 8, 10 (part) 17, 18, 19, 20 and 36 and 99 (part)”.
The Commission is to take the help of the state to boost up the confidence of the voters, it was directed. Area domination and route marches are to be conducted among with installation of close circuit cameras, it was further directed. The state and the commission are to submit reports to the court. The matter will again be heard on 23 December.

"In other states also, civic polls are conducted with the help of state forces. So, there is no need for Central forces in this election. We have asked the DG to submit a detailed plan of security arrangements within seven days," a senior official of the State Election Commission said.
