After the Supreme Court’s ruling on Thursday to cancel jobs of close to 26,000 teachers in the SSC 2016 recruitment case, many of the teachers, along with the candidates are left distraught.
Mr Majumdar, earlier had said it would be difficult to differentiate the deserving and undeserving candidates. But today in a U-turn, he told newspersons that it was feasible.
The Division Bench of Justice Debangsu Basak and Justice Shabbar Rashidi ordered the cancellation of 25,753 jobs today.
For the civil position, a total of 10,154 candidates met the qualifications, and for the electrical or engineering post, 2073 candidates met the requirements.

On Tuesday, the SSC informed the court that there were faults in the recruitment process, which made the judge furious. Making his observation, Gangopadhyay said, "The situation is such that I have lost all faith in SSC. They can do anything."
