However, it is also believed that staging the IPL in New Zealand will have feasibility issues because of its seven-hour time difference with India.
Team India's last international assignment was against South Africa which was called off mid-way following the outbreak of novel coronavirus.
Even though Sri Lanka had requested the BCCI to go ahead with the tour, a board official had told on May 17 that it would be near impossible to tour.
A BCCI official said that it was too early to comment considering that it is almost two months away and the situation with regards to the pandemic keeps changing
The IPL 2020, which was scheduled to be played from March 29 this year, was earlier postponed to April 15 before it was suspended indefinitely.
As per a report published in 'The Island', SLC has sent an e-mail to BCCI, requesting the possibility of resuming bilateral cricket later in July.
Sri Lanka Cricket has already seen England cancel their tour in mid-March after the outbreak of the pandemic in the middle of the second warm-up game.
