As expected, the BJP clinched 7 of the 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday where by-elections were held on November 20.
The ruling BJP is leading in seven out of nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh whereas the Samajwadi Party had retained the Sisamau seat in Kanpur and was leading in Karhal seat in Mainpuri.
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates were leading on three seats while Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was ahead on one seat as trends for the Bihar bypolls started pouring in on Saturday.
As the BJP gained a lead in Uttar Pradesh by-polls on nine seats, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said on Saturday that the Samajwadi party's reality has come before the people and it is going to become "Samaptwadi Party."
Akhilesh Yadav conducted a 16-km long road show in Kannauj today from Bhagat Singh Square of Bidhuna to Erwa Katra. Huge crowd welcomed the SP President throughout the route.
Along with 13 Lok Sabha seats, by-election of Dadraul Assembly seat in Shahjahanpur district would also be held. There are 10 candidates in the fray from Dadraul Assembly seat.
At an election rally in Gorakhpur, the chief minister said "Had the Opposition implemented stringent measures against terrorists while in power, attacks on Sankatmochan Temple and Kachari could have been avoided."
Along with Rahul Gandhi and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh participated in the joint INDIA rally vehemently targeting the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The SP chief predicted that the saffron party would lose Amla, Badaun, Mainpuri, and all the surrounding seats in the second phase.
