As expected, the BJP clinched 7 of the 9 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday where by-elections were held on November 20.
The ruling BJP is leading in seven out of nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh whereas the Samajwadi Party had retained the Sisamau seat in Kanpur and was leading in Karhal seat in Mainpuri.
National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates were leading on three seats while Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was ahead on one seat as trends for the Bihar bypolls started pouring in on Saturday.
As the BJP gained a lead in Uttar Pradesh by-polls on nine seats, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said on Saturday that the Samajwadi party's reality has come before the people and it is going to become "Samaptwadi Party."
The party is in a discussion mode to select the LoP representing the Caste factor.
The decision was taken in the meeting chaired by National General Secretary/In-charge Uttar Pradesh Avinash Pandey and State Congress President Ajay Rai, state party spokesperson Anshu Awasthi disclosed on Monday.
