The search operation continued for the second day in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday, officials said.
Officials confirmed that a mysterious blast took place at the Sher Colony of the city.
The gunfight started in the morning when terrorists fired at a joint team of security forces that had launched a search operation in the area.
In the ensuing encounter, three terrorists, including a top LeT commander, were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of the encounter
Army and CRPF have cordoned the area to nab the terrorists behind the attack.
Police identified the killed councillor as Riyaz Ahmad and police personnel Shafqat Ahmad.
Police sounded a high alert and launched strict vigil at all entry and exit points in Sopore and areas around.
According to reports, the attack was launched at a joint party of CRPF and police personnel at a check post in Sopore town in Jammu and Kashmir.
Heavy firing exchanges started on Wednesday between holed up militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore.
