Members of the All India Students Association (AISA), protesting outside Ladakh Bhawan in support of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Sunday were taken away by the police before being released soon after.
A senior police official said the protesters who were detained were taken to Mandir Marg police station and were later released.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuck has intensified his protest against the lack of response from the government to his long-standing demand for statehood and the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
Hours after climate activist Sonam Wangchuck was released from detention, he remains in isolation at Ladakh Bhawan here, heavily guarded by a joint force of Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CISF. A recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, he is currently restricted from receiving visitors, with only a few exceptions allowed.

Wangchuk and his supporters were on a march to Delhi in support of their demand for Sixth Schedule status for the Union Territory of Ladakh when they were stopped on the Delhi-Haryana border in view of the prohibitory orders in force in the National capital.
Asserting that the people of Delhi stand with the people from Ladakh, she said that LG's rule should end in Ladakh and the national capital. "Ladakh and Delhi should get the status of a full-fledged state," the senior AAP leader demanded.
The march to Delhi was started on 1 September from Leh.
