The train started its maiden journey with 500 passengers, including 200 from Kolkata, on Saturday noon and is to return to the city on 31 May. During its 11 days’ and 12 nights’ journey, the theme-based train would cover temple destinations like Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar, Somnath, Nageswar, and Trimbakeshwar and also Sainagar Shirdi.
Pradip Mukherjee was hospitalised on August 22 following a lung infection. His condition started deteriorating from Sunday and he had to be given ventilator support.
Lakhs of devotees visit the Somnath Temple from India and abroad every year. The need for the new Circuit House was felt as the existing government facility was located far from the temple.
