India’s first functional smog tower inaugurated

The PRANA portal will provide all information related to various policies/programmes/schemes/activities of the stakeholders along with the progress made towards improvement in air quality across the country. This portal will be a platform for monitoring and feedback on all efforts made for air quality improvement.
Powered by 40 huge fans and 5000 filters, the tower is India’s first Smog Tower and will tremendously contribute in cleaning air at public spaces.
The construction of the smog tower has been completed and the inauguration will happen on August 23 instead of August 15, an official said requesting anonymity.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, informed the bench that the University of Minnesota is the licensee sharing the scope of deliverables and transfer of technology and submitted that a joint affidavit has been filed by the Centre and the Central Pollution Control Board. The IIT-Bombay and TATA Projects have tied up with University of Minnesota as it is a patent-protected innovation, he added.
