The film follows Jamal Malik, a young man from Mumbai's slums, who wins a fortune on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'
"I was born in Agra and at a young age, with my family, I shifted to Delhi. After staying there and when I was learning dance as a kid and had a promising career in dance, I started getting acting offers. I left dancing and started acting. Whatever projects I did were successful.”
The film went on to win the Best Picture Oscar, and made over $300 million worldwide.
For the uninitiated, Irrfan essayed the role of a cop in the movie who gets the responsibility of detaining the lead actor on charges of cheating.
The film gala begins in Delhi on July 18 and will travel through different cities. The festival will culminate on September 29 in Mumbai.
The composers was speaking at a special ceremony to celebrate the film's ten years of Oscar win, Monday.
Looking back, the 62-year-old actor said winning the Oscar was phenomenal and a moment the entire country was "proud" of.
