Last month, Mamata had reportedly said that in the name of Shramik Express, Indian Railways is running 'Corona Express' while alleging that social distancing is not being maintained in special trains transporting migrant workers and other people to their homes.
Railway Board Chairman said that the demand for these trains has decreased from 250 to 137 in the last few days.
Yadav swung into action to arrange for some milk but by the time he got a packet, the train started moving. The constable ran towards the coach of the train with his service rifle in one hand and the milk packet in the other.
Shramik special trains were being ignored by the railways due to which 40 per cent were running late, she said.
'The commission has taken suo motu cognisance of media reports that the trains which are ferrying migrant labourers are not only starting late but are taking many additional days to reach destination,' said the statement by NHRC.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had expressed his dismay over the state government stonewalling efforts by the Centre to facilitate transportation of migrant labourers back to the state.
The Supreme Court had on Tuesday taken suo motu cognizance of problems faced by the migrant labourers who are stranded in different parts of the country due to the nationwide lockdown to contain the Coronavirus outbreak.
